Ice Excavation

Sensory Activity Ice Excavation

It is hot out! One of our favorite ways to beat the heat is to play with ice. There are so many things you can do with it.

For this activity I put plastic frogs in balloons and filled them with water before popping them into the freezer.

Once they were frozen I took them out of the freezer and peeled the balloon off.

I gave Bee all types of tools to break away the ice and just let him so crazy. My favorite tool was the dropper, it is such a simple tool but teaches so many wonderful skills. Use whatever resources you have lying around. Funnels, cups, measuring cups, spoons, etc. Let your kids imaginations go wild. You will be blown away with what they come up and how they explore the ice.

Hours of play and minimal work for me. Just a bit of prep work. Win, win!
