July is such a fun month for us! It starts off with a bang with Canada Day on July 1st then the rest of our month is filled with family fun, outdoor activities and too many smores for anyone’s good. Even though we will technically be in summer mode we will still be doing our morning basket nearly everyday. In fact, it might be the only formal learning we do and I am completely fine with that.
Memory Work
Number Cards – Spelling has been a struggle in our home so I am changing up our method to try and get on track. I found these adorable cards in our Math curriculum (The Good and the Beautiful Level 1) and we will be using them as a reference. The adorable farm animals help make our spelling extra memorable.
Articles of Faith Flash Cards – In May we started memorizing the Articles of Faith and we have already finished 1-5!! This month our focus is on 6 & 7 while making sure we still remember the others.
Discussion Prompts
Q&A a Day for Kids – This journal has prompts every day and space for 3 years! We have used it for a year and a half and I already adore looking back at the cute things my kids have said.
Religious
For our quick devotional we read an article from The Friend magazine and discuss what it was talking about and how we can apply those principles to be better people. We have the hard copies but you can use digital copies for FREE in the link above.
Chapter Book
Little House on the Prairie – In June we read, Big Woods, and this month we are headed to the prairies. I know that currently these books are becoming controversial but we are using them as an opportunity to have hard discussions as they come up. Books have opened so many doors for us and I hope that they continue to widen our perspectives.
