Having four kids myself, I am still in shock by the love of kids have for a dinosaurs. Is it the mystery, the colors, their size or the coolness factor? I’m not sure. What I do know is that if I can incorporate Dinosaurs into any lesson I find success, its like magic.
Let’s jump into our time machine and discover the wonders of Dinosaurs. Your kids are going to love this unit and I bet you will too.
Usborne Books About Dinosaurs
You can never have too many books, or so I tell my husband. Usborne has done an absolutely fabulous job at teaching all about dinosaurs with their books. Here are our families personal favorites.

Activities to Teach About Dinosaurs
Whether you have big kids or little ones you can find a dinosaur themed activity to keep hands busy and minds creating. I gave you a variety of activities to choose from so that you can decide which one fits your home best. I suggest doing one or two a day max but if you want to do more or extend your dinosaur exploration then please do!
Kids Art Hub – Drawing Dinosaurs
Dinosaur YouTube Video Clips
I adore YouTube for it’s educational content. We don’t always stick to obviously educational content but I do enjoy using it to teach while providing me a much needed break. Do you need a 5 minute break, 20 minute break or even longer? I have just the video to keep your kids engaged while you do whatever Mom life stuff you need to do. I highly encourage Dr. Pepper and a good book but take this time to do what brings sanity into your life.

SciShow Kids – Dig Into Paleontology
Dino Trails – Royal Tyrell Museum
National Geographic – Dinosaur Documentary Channel
Science Experiments
Let’s get to the fun hands on stuff. You may not think these are entirely dinosaur related and that’s fine. It’s not so easy to find experiments about creatures that have been gone for so long but these are all wonderful experiments that get your kids thinking, asking questions and involved.
