Doctrine and Covenants 27-28 Expanded Study

March 16, 2021 by Side By Side Learning

My kids are thrilled about this weeks study! I have two boys that love pretending to be knights which means armor is right up their alley. Learning about the Armor of God will not only be fun but it will help prepare for future problems and give them the tools that they need.

Tuesday

Memorize Doctrine and Covenants

Today we are going to learn more about the specific purposes of each piece of armor and get dressed up. You can use official costumes or find items around your house that can “protect” your kids. Encourage your kids to become immersed in a story that they would need to use their armor to help them. If they need help getting started you could give them a problem situation and see what arises. If you are struggling with something specific, now might be a great time to work through a problem.

Having a Prophet on the earth to receive revelation for The Church as a whole is an incredible blessing. He can help us make choices to draw nearer to Christ and avoid a lot of confusion. In the next few weeks we will be hearing from the Prophet, Apostles and other church leaders at General Conference making now a wonderful time to talk about why having the heavens opened is so important to our daily life.

Currently my favorite book character is Yasmin! Currently my favorite book character is Yasmin!

Yasmin is strong, independent, tries new things and loves her family. She doesn't always make the best choices but she is quick to think of solutions or new ideas for the problems she faces.

Which Yasmin book is your favorite?

Easter is my favorite holiday! I love the meaning Easter is my favorite holiday! I love the meaning behind our celebration, the traditions, spring is close but mostly I love being with family.

Life is still far from normal but we are doing our best to still celebrate the life of Christ. I still miss everyone but taking life one day at a time helps.
Easter was the first celebration we had as our own Easter was the first celebration we had as our own individual family in this c*vid world. I'm not really ready for another round of unusual celebrations.

There's nothing I can do to stop the world from turning so we press on.

Palm Sunday is tomorrow. I'm not ready for extra fun or symbolic traditions but what I can do is spend the next week focusing more on Christ, my Savior.

It doesn't feel like enough but HE is!
We've been learning about chickens as part of our We've been learning about chickens as part of our devotionals this week, so I arranged a chicken meet up with our neighbors.

The kids loved petting them and had tons of questions when we got home. It was almost perfect.... Except one stepped on my foot (wearing sandals) and I nearly died. I don't love chickens especially their gross feet. 😳

Tell me what you hate that's not really logical. (Doesn't have to be related to chickens)
