In church we often talk about gathering Zion, protecting others and gathering flocks. After yesterday’s lesson, learning about chickens, we are prepared to talk about how we can be like the hen and gather those around us. The video below about how Jesus is like a hen is a good video to start a discussion. Depending on your family you might want to talk about strengthening your flock. Want to expand outside of your home? Missionary work is a role that we have all been called to serve in. How can your family serve and gather those around you. I hope that your family will be able to think of some ideas to help their family members, neighbors, strangers and those that have already passed on.

Most of Doctrine and Covenants 29 focuses on the plan of salvation. The red headed hostess created adorable printables to help your family learn about each step of the plan. We are going to color the pages and then cut them out to rearrange as we learn more about each step. I don’t expect my kids to understand every step of the plan but as we continually learn about the plan of salvation they will get better and better at knowing and understanding the plan.

One concept that sets The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints apart from many other Christian denominations is our belief that little children are redeemed through the atonement of Jesus Christ. They are without sin during the early years as they are learning and growing. Once they become eight, they have reached the age of accountability then they will need to utilize the power of the atonement in their daily lives.
