This week during Come Follow Me we are winding down our gardening mini unit. We planted our seeds of faith, nurtured them and this week we are reaping the rewards. We are going to focus on personal revelation, Oliver Cowdery and the harvest (spiritual and physical). It’s going to be an amazing week and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Personal revelation is a lot like growing a garden, that is why we have been focusing on plants for the last few weeks. This week we will come full circle as our “plants” are ready to harvest and become food for our bodies. Personal revelation goes through many stages as our understanding grows and develops. The Red Headed Hostess created a simple game to help your kids understand the process better, check it out here. Your kids will learn about immersing themselves in good, listening for promptings, praying for confirmation and how recording can help us recall our blessings and answers. These actions help our spirits to strengthen and prepare for whatever lies ahead of us
You can relate the revelation process to having good soil and sunshine, planting seeds, watering them and weeding regularly and adding compost or fertilize the soil as needed. In the end our plants grow into delicious and nutritious fruits and veggies that feed our bodies.

Last week we read the scripture about the field is white and all ready for harvest. This week we will be learning about harvesting wheat, the machines, the process and the actual plant. If you have connections to a farm or a wheat grinder you could really take this week up a notch or two.

Highlight Scripture: Doctrine and Covenants 6:36
Bake bread and/or pizza – In our home we regularly make our own bread so I didn’t want to focus on that but I’ll share a look into our family traditions if you want to try one of them. Each week on Friday we have a family homemade pizza movie night. Saturday we make bread for the following week but mostly we bake on Saturday so that we have fresh bread for our home sacrament meeting. Before we were having home church we still baked on Saturday as a way to help use prepare our spirits for Sunday worship. We also put away our phones and had good friends over, check out our Tech Shabbat Highlight on Instagram for details. It was one of my favorite times of the week and I miss it dearly. Once our province lifts gathering restrictions I plan on starting again.
