Scientist, Scientist, Who Do You See? Book Review + Giveaway

August 29, 2018 by Side By Side Learning 1 Comment

In the world of science there are so many amazing scientists that as a parent its challenging to decide who to introduce to kids. Its even more difficult to find picture books that can capture a young minds curiosity. Scientist, Scientist, Who Do You See? Does an incredible job at introducing scientific figures into your child’s life.

A Scientific Parody

One of the classic books of our time is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? It is well loved because of its simple graphics, and how it introduces animals and colors in a fun way that is simple for kids to understand. Scientist, Scientist, Who Do You See? Is written in the same manner.

Instead of introducing colors and animals it focuses on various Scientists and how they impacted the world around them. The sentences are crisp and clear. The images are simplistic yet colorful and engaging.

Scientific Vocabulary

The vocabulary gives me all the heart eye emoji’s. Each page has woven scientific terms in while maintaining a fun sing-song rhythm. I adore books that help me introduce new words and expand my kids understanding. With words like laboratory, botany, inventing and diversity your kids are bound to have questions about what words mean. Their curiosity will then allow you to dive further into a rabbit hole searching for a deeper understanding.

Scientists Featured

Scientists are scattered all around the globe. In Scientist, Scientist, Who Do You See, they do a great job of including people from around the world, from different cultures and various races. Each scientist has one sentence about them on their main page but the back has even more information to share with your slightly bigger kids.

You could win these four incredible books! This giveaway ends on August 31 so jump on Facebook or Instagram to enter. Included are two space books, two books written by Chris Ferrie, one flap book and one hilarious word book perfect for geeks and nerds everywhere. The Author

The writer, Chris Ferrie, is a physicist, a mathematician and a father of four. He wanted to pass on his love of science and knew that kids are small sponges. As a result he has written some books to introduce big concepts in a small way. I have loved each and everyone that we have read.

Ferrie Book Reccomendations

I strive to only recommend things that we personally use in our home. Here are books that we currently own written by Ferrie.

I don't understand what's happening in Ukraine. I' I don't understand what's happening in Ukraine. I've got the basics and a million more questions.

I'm not going to attempt to teach you about what is going on currently. I'm here to tell you that there is time to learn and grow in understanding.

As a homeschool mom, I've had a magnifying lens on what I don't completely understand. I could pretend to know answers, skip the hard topics or I could join the lessons.

Today I choose to join my kids and learn about the Soviet Union. After discussions with a friend I realized that it was a hole in my own education and it was stopping me from understanding current events.

We have a long ways to go but I understand more. I count that as a win.

How are you adding Ukraine into your life this week?

Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr and Anne F Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr and Anne Frank were born in the same year?

These two faced discrimination based on their color and religion. They were treated as second class citizen's and both changed the world with their words. Reading about their similarities and the struggles they faced was eye opening and a great way to discuss how we are not alone in our trials.

"No one could kill the way Martin inspired others. Just as Anne's words will never die."

How do you teach your kids to do what is right even if the law tells them to behave otherwise?
